Along with the API, we’ve recently integrated Lono with Zapier.
What is Zapier?
Zapier makes it super easy to connect different apps and services, and automate integrated tasks between them. It’s very much like IFTTT. For those interested in messing around, we’d love for you to check it out here.
Watering with Lono and Zapier
We had at one point discussed releasing a rudimentary iteration of “dumb scheduling” that would allow users to cycle through all of their zones for the minutes they specify during the Times Available for Watering they establish in the scheduling screen. That can now be done easily using Zapier. Here's how:
- Sign up for a Zapier account at https://zapier.com/
- Upon creating an account, you can accept an invitation from us to integrate Zapier with Lono here: https://zapier.com/zapbook/lono/
- Once you've accepted the invitation you can click "Make a Zap" in the Zapier navbar
- From there you'll be able to create a Google Calendar trigger that will enable Lono to water. That is, when a Google Calendar event starts it will cause a specific zone to water and ultimately initiate a watering cycle. E.g., if you have 4 zones, and you start zone 4 and leave it on, after zone 4 has been on for the number of minutes that you've specified, Lono will switch to zone 1, then zone 2, then 3, and then turn off. If you start with zone 1, it will run 2, 3, and 4 then turn off.
